Advent Worship Theme – Journey to Bethlehem
Our theme for worship throughout the season of Advent is the Journey to Bethlehem:
To Find Peace, Hope, Joy and Love.
The advent season introduces into the life of the congregation and worship several significant milestones:
- It’s the beginning of the new liturgical calendar;
- It’s the preparation time for the birth of Jesus;
- It’s about the journey Joseph and Mary take to Bethlehem for the beginning of their new life together; and
- Advent signals our time to reflect on our own journeys toward HOPE, LOVE, JOY and PEACE.
Each Sunday we focus on a different aspect of the Journey to Bethlehem. This week, December 1, 2013, is the First Sunday of Advent. We will focus on the Journey to Beth: To Find HOPE.
Scripture Readings: Isaiah 2:1-5 Psalm 122 Romans 13:11-14 Matthew 24:36-44
Sermon: “Hope is Not a Four-Letter Word”
The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be served during the December 1 worship service.
